Cocktails, yes please!

First of all: Merry Christmas to everyone! Secondly and more importantly: New Years Eve is about to knock on our doors and if you’re planning to spend it in the fabulous City of London this year, here are my two top tips for having a stylish cocktail:

Il Bar

What happens when the Italian fashion Gods of Bulgari open a hotel? Right! First of all they build a real stylish bar! That’s why “Il Bar” located inside the new Bulgari Hotel Knightsbridge is a real eye catcher! The décor (made of gold leaf and onyx!) happens to remember a lot of James Bond and there’s only one motto: To see and to b seen! The classic cocktails all have a modern Italian twist and are served with olives and fresh focaccia. So allow yourself a great night out and throw yourself in your finest dress. And if there’s still money after this imposing aperitif, saunter down the glamorous stairs to “Il Ristorante”, the noble in-house Italian!

Gilgamesh

My overall favourite: Gilgamesh in Camden. Torches burning outside, the munchies inside. As a multi-level location Gilgamesh offers bars, restaurants and a clubbing lounge – all in a very posh Asian style. Golden shiny figurines all part of the famous Gilgamesh epos seem to be the perfect décor and the music simply floats you away somewhere between London and Asia. With a little luck you will even meet a VIP celebrating a birthday party.

The perfect holiDAY

Like every year Mr. Boyfriend and me discussed the whole spring where to spend summer holiday. I want to see as much as possible, want to climb and walk, want to discover and explore. He pretty much prefers doing nothing on holiday. Compromise turns out to be quite impossible. But then we spend a lovely “compromise vacation”, having half of a day treatments at our hotel spa and another half in nature doing lots of climbing, shooting with bow and arrows and hiking. But by the time discussing I wondered what makes a perfect day on holiday to people in general. I started researching and here’s what people think:

„If I get to see animals I only know from tv and zoos, I spend a perfect day.”

“Sitting by the ocean under a clear night sky with people, noises and soft music in the back after having a nice walk sounds like the end of a perfect day to me.”

“For spending a perfect day not the course matters, but the persons accompanying me. When I get to spend a day with my best friend or my children, then dinner can be served for breakfast, lunch can be cancelled and early-morning exercise can take place in the middle of the night.”

“A perfect day is educational, relaxing and romantic.”

„Sitting on the beach with a bottle of wine right after a tasty dinner, watching the stars and the moon and little crabs walking around seems to be quite perfect to me.”

“Sleeping as long as I want!”

„I’m curious, I don’t want to spend much time on relaxing.”

„Relaxing is more likely to do at home – not on holiday.“

„Even winter holiday can be perfect, because it’s soooo romantic.”

“Meeting foreign people, understanding different cultures, trying different food.”

„Not knowing what the day will bring. Being closely to myself.”

 „Las Vegas!“

„Having Ouzo in the evening.“

“I like creative holidays. They make me feel relaxed 100%.”

What makes a perfect day to you?

Travelling for nature

http://tinyurl.com/8v6m2oo
I’ve just heard a worrying forecast: The number of licensed airplanes around the world will even double in the next few years! Although airlines are persistently developing ways to reduce fuel consumption and are investing in biofuel (for example made of specific algae), travellers need to start rearranging their own views. Does it always have to be the car? Or the plane? The platform “Greenmiles” gets you to wonder about exact those simple questions. It calculates your journey’s emission value and offers you to donate an equivalent amount of money, which will be invested in an other environmental project. For a flight from Germany to London for example you’d have to pay 5 Euros. Not too much to help saving our planet, I think.
