3 (of a million) reasons to visit Kuxville beach cottages and kite school

“Everything began when Helmuth Otto Wilhelm Kux left Germany at the age of 17; he left Berlin by bicycle and crossed the alps to Italy. After many adventures he went to South Africa on a ship. During World War II, he was interned in a camp with other German citizens, where he learned a lot about different crafts, such as carpentry and architecture. These were very useful to him later when he built up Kuxville from a scratch. After the war, he met his wife Elke Marie. In the late fifties, a big cyclone had just passed the island and social settlements were desperately needed in Mauritius. This is when Helmuth Kux came to work on the island and discovered its beauty; in 1960, the entire family moved over.

It is for his love of the sea that the family’s weekend residence was chosen in Cap Malheureux. At the time, life was very simple on the coast without proper roads and electricity. It through a natural process that, with the contruction of further bungalows, rentals to visitors started - Kuxville was established in 1966 when tourism in Mauritius was still in its infant’s shoes.

Through the continuous efforts of Elke and Helmuth Kux was created what Kuxville is today. Generations of happy and satisfied clients have spent their vacation here and it is with their son Nico and his wife Andrea that it goes on!”

Sounding like a lovely story, one instantly wonders what the Kux family’s hotel in Mauritius is like by reading the hotel history on the Kuxville website. Well, what we know is, it is located in Cap Malheureux in the North of the country and right on the coast as Helmuth Kux obviously liked the sea. As we also do we love the hotel's private beach, the shallow water and the lagoon being ideal for any kind of watersport activities. There’s a million reasons to visit this paradise, one surely is that all apartments and villas are located right on the beach and are having a stunning seaview. Three others are:

Kuxville preserves the island's natural beauty

As sustainable tourism is a real matter of the heart to the Kux family the hotel has just been expanded by the “Serendip Eco Lodges”, comfortably furnished bungalows located around an ecological swimming pool and a tropical endemic garden.

Kuxville offers an unique catering concept

Enjoying real plain fair by a local without even having to leave the hotel's comfort walls makes a perfect holiday to you? Well, what Kuxville offers will knock you off your feet then! If required there’s a local housemaid in each bungalow cooking whatever you like. This may not only be traditional Creole, but also international cuisine. And the best: Everything is fresh and delivered at market prices.

Kuxville is the watersport place to be

As there is not only the hotel itself but also “Sindbad”, the hotels’ dive center and kite school, there is always something to do. Enjoy kite instruction from one of the rare IKO registered centres, take part in snorkeling trips, or rent a kayak and discover the lagoon on your own.

Where do I always wanted to travel?

Recently I’ve been visiting my granny when she just pointed at her USA-calendar stating that she always wanted to have a look at the Golden Gate Bridge, but never had the chance to. That made me think of a place, which I always wanted to visit, but yet I couldn’t think of one. Sure, safari in South Africa sounds terrific, so does backpacking Australia or canoeing in Canada. But are that really my ideas or more the ones of huge travelling companies and the happy people on their catalogue cover’s? I wonder if there is a place for me out there. And it doesn’t even have to be an island-paradise! Any idea?

Honeymoon & Arabian Nights

You agree that there is nothing more romantic than colourful lanterns, oriental tones, a star-bright desert night or a ride on the magic carpet? Why not spending a magic honeymoon at “Desert Nights Camp” then?

http://tinyurl.com/b97r3qx
11 kilometers outside of Al Wasil, Oman, and only accessible by a rover vehicle the hotel is surrounded by huge dunes. The romantic-oriental furnished hotel offers a charming atmosphere and lots of extraordinary activities: camel riding, quad rides, camp fire right under the stars or even star observations with huge telescopes placed all over the hotel. Seems to be honeymoon deluxe, huh?
